“Representations and Selfrepresentations of Queer(s) in East Asia”
The conference organizing team envisions a conference that takes into account queer topics, queer practice and theoretical approaches from and concerning East Asia with the aim to bring together activists, scholars and interested people.
‘Queer’ is supposed to be the working basis for the conference with regard to theory, methods and content of contributions. We cannot offer a definition of ‘queer’.
We try to not organize a typical academic conference, where established professors stand in the center of attention and the usual hierarchies are being reproduced. Yet, we are also aware of the difficulty of our attempt. With the help from all those participating, we want to create a space for discussion and networking, where we will feel as safe as possible and be able to learn from each other. We encourage all participants to be at their most critical but always to be respectful and aware of one’s biases and prejudices.
Alle Talks finden in der Aula am Campus der Universität Wien (Altes AKH, Spitalgasse 2, between Hof 1 and Hof 2, 1090 Wien) statt. Die Workshops finden am Institut für Ostasienwissenschaften – Japanologie (Altes AKH, Spitalgasse 2, Hof 2, 1090 Wien) statt.
